At its core, photography has everything to do with the harnessing of light, which makes Andrey Ryazanov’s new series, Shadows, particularly appealing in its contrasting use of light and dark. A street photographer, Ryazanov searches the city for inspiration, in this case finding the long cast shadows of a low sun lighting up crosswalks, buildings, and people to great effect.
The series is a collection of romantic, cinematic, thoughtful images that explore both the relationship between light and dark and that of the lone figure against the backdrop of the city.
Andrey Ryazanov is a street and interiors photographer based in Minsk, Belarus. See more of his work on Behance and Instagram.
