Toby OrtonAt its core, photography has everything to do with the harnessing of light, which makes Andrey Ryazanov’s new series, Shadows, particularly appealing in its contrasting use of light and dark. A street photographer, Ryazanov searches the city for inspiration, in this case finding the long cast shadows of a low sun lighting up crosswalks, buildings, and people to great effect.
The series is a collection of romantic, cinematic, thoughtful images that explore both the relationship between light and dark and that of the lone figure against the backdrop of the city.
