The International Photography Awards finally revealed 2020’s competition winners — a stunning display of architectural beauty from around the world, and a welcome visual interlude from the strange goings-on at the moment.
Chosen from 13,000 entries submitted by photographers from 120 countries, the winners were chosen for various architecture sub-categories, including fine art, cityscapes, bridges, buildings, interior, historic, industrial, abstract and more.
Speaking about the competition, IPA founder and president Hossein Farmani says: “In these unprecedented times, this year’s entries reflect some of the biggest challenges facing our generation – not the least of which is dealing with a virus which, for the first time, is an event that has affected every person on earth in some way.” He also emphasized that these batch of images were the best he’s seen in decades: “We see photography at its best, whether covering the Covid pandemic, or the world’s uprising against injustice – the images captured are breathtaking.”
An exhibition is set for New York’s Lucie Week, and will eventually move on to major cities worldwide, including Los Angeles, Moscow, Paris, Tokyo, Shanghai, Bangkok and more. In the meantime, enjoy the winning Architecture category images below. Head over to IPA for the full list.
